Hunslet Festival 2025 to go from strength to strength

Hunslet Festival returns on Saturday 14 June 2025 and plans are well underway to make this year’s event bigger and better.

Hunslet Festival is an annual event taking place in June on Church Street/Grove Road field in Hunslet. It is a fantastic celebration of the community and features an array of attractions including dance and musical performances in our arena, a range of attractions and a diverse range of stalls from local community groups and businesses.

2024 was the start of new chapter for the refreshed Hunslet Festival and feedback from the event was hugely positive. A report on a success event can be found here. The organising committee continue to build on the strong foundations laid here from an established event whilst freshening up the event with some new ideas.

New for 2025 are the Birds of Prey from SMJ Falconry who will be on display throughout the day whilst also providing a flying demonstration in the Performance Arena.

There are plenty of FREE activities for children and families to enjoy including:

  • Climbing wall provided by Herd Farm
  • Circus skills workshop from local favourite Rapide Entertainment
  • Ian’s Mobile Farm are bringing a range of animals for stroking, cuddling and feeding
  • Yorkshire Contemporary will provide a range of interactive arts & play activities.
  • The Big Bike Fix will be offering free bike repairs and skills training
  • Leeds Youth Service will be bringing their Youth Bus & some activities for children and young people
  • West Yorkshire Police are bringing a Police van and other equipment for kids to have a try on. And another siren.
  • Hunslet Fire Station will be attending with a fire engine – giving guests a chance to try on uniform, sit in the cabin and press the siren!

Alongside these will be a range of fantastic performances in the arena throughout the day including professional performers and community groups. Dance groups, musical performances, a choir and sports showcase are all booked in.

Also new for 2025 is a Sports Arena giving children a chance to try a range of new or different sports. Plans are still taking shape but ideas include roller skating, skateboarding, cycling and athletics.

Around the site there will be a broad variety of stalls from community groups and local businesses.

The food offering has been expanded this year with burgers/barbecue provided by The Hunslet Club, pizzas served by the Salvation Army and also local caterer Shazia Akhtar will be providing a range of Asian cuisine. And of course ice cream will be available!

Fairground rides and inflatables will also be on offer for a small fee.

All in all an action packed day is in store. Bring your family, friends and neighbours. Please join us as we celebrate our community together in the sunshine (fingers crossed!)

  1. It is a huge pleasure to be part of the committee of volunteers who arrange Hunslet Festival.

They all give up their time for free to ensure a great day out for the people of Hunslet and beyond.
