Many local people worked for the Hunslet Engine Company in Jack Lane, which finally closed its doors in 1995.
The Middleton Railway and Schneider Electric are pleased to announce a weekend of celebration over July 18 and 19 to commemorate the achievements of this company and its employees. The railway will host a gala event with several Hunslet locomotives returning to the city for the first time since they were built.
We are particularly interested in hearing from ex-employees of Hunslet who we’d like to invite to a special opening event. If any of the blog readers worked at, or know somebody who worked at, Hunslet Engine Company then please contact us at hunslet150@gmail.com or at the Middleton Railway on 0845 680 1758.
