We are very excited that Holbeck Gala is now less than a week away. Make sure you keep Saturday free, rumour has it that this is going to be the best gala yet (fingers crossed for sunshine)!
Holbeck Gala is organised by local residents and runs every year on Holbeck Moor and this year it is on Saturday 4 July from 12pm until 4pm. It’s always a great community event which brings together local residents, community groups and local businesses to have fun and enjoy community spirit right in the heart of Holbeck.
Before the gala starts on the moor at midday there will be a parade through the streets of Holbeck starting at 11:30 at Cleveleys Court led by a local majorettes troop. Look out for them outside your window and join them in marching your way to the gala!
This year we have a fantastic line up on the main stage featuring The Blades, Homecut, The Bondurants, Chunky Butt Funky and the local Vocologee Choir. Those who came to the gala last year will be pleased to hear we’ve also got the fantastic DJ Danny doing his thing in between acts again!
The excellent beer tent is also returning for it’s second year run by The Holbeck and Holbeck Christian Fellowship. Other regular favourites such as the climbing wall, Morely Exotic Animals, Slung Low, the cafe, BBQ, face painting, inflatables, football and a wide range of stalls will also be there for your enjoyment!
New for this year we’ve got The Works coming down to do some BMX demos and teaching some skills on the skatepark. Artz Academy are going to be creating a big collaborative piece of art work and Cloth Cat Studios are running some DJing workshops. We also have have someone from the new social enterprise nail bar, The Shine Nail Bar coming down to do nails on the moor!
As ever the gala needs volunteers to make it a great success. Volunteers are needed from 9am to 7pm for a wide range of duties and we welcome any amount of time you can give.
