Holbeck Food Bank launched in April 2013 and in our first year we were able to deliver food parcels to over 500 households in Holbeck and Beeston, writes Hannah Pearson.
It is run entirely by just six volunteers from Holbeck Christian Fellowship and Mosaic Church but this is made possible by the overwhelming support and generosity of the whole community. Many individuals, churches and businesses (including DePuy and Yorkshire Bank) give food regularly and promote our service among their clients.
Holbeck Food Bank aims to empower the community to support each other and help those in need – it is a community project run by the community for the community.
Parcels go out in response to referrals from verified referral agencies including social services, local schools and Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the delivery service aims to promote relationship building within the community.
We just want to say a huge thank you for all donations and support – please keep giving!
If you would like to donate food, we have collection points at all our Sunday gatherings. Alternatively, please email hannah.pearson@mosaic-church.org.uk.
