In partnership with St Luke’s CARES and Our Future Beeston through the “Save Money Save the Planet” initiative, the South Leeds Green Film Festival will launch on Friday (8 November 2024) at Beeston Hill Community Cinema, located in St Luke’s CARES Charity Shop. The festival provides an exciting opportunity to amplify the voices within our community that are too often overlooked in climate discussions.
With a diverse lineup, the festival aims to create a space for the community to share their thoughts, ideas, fears, and stories, fostering dialogue that builds resilience and collective action against the climate crisis. The event will kick off with two animated shorts, ‘Hope’ and ‘The Invention of Less’, and continuing with two impactful short documentaries, ‘Journey for Justice’ and ‘The Bleeding Tides’. These films will explore themes of environmental activism and the human impact on our planet, setting the stage for deep discussions on collective responsibility and climate action.
The South Leeds Green Film Festival is a chance to recognise and amplify voices within our community that have always been present but are too often left out of climate discussions. By bringing these perspectives forward, we aim to inspire collective action and build resilience within our community. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in addressing the climate crisis.
This event is part of St Luke’s CARES’ ongoing commitment to fostering community conversations around climate resilience, particularly from the perspectives of the Global South. We look forward to welcoming members of the community to experience these unique films and engage in meaningful discussions.
This event takes place at Beeston Hill Community Cinema at St Luke’s CARES Charity Shop, 246-252 Dewsbury Road, Leeds, LS11 6JQ on Friday 8 November starting a 6pm.
