The Friends of Middleton Park are hosting a free guided walk in Middleton Park on Sunday (11 August 2024) around the Old South Leeds Golf Course land.
After South Leeds Golf Club closed, over 4 years ago, most of the land was incorporated into Middleton Park. In that time there has been extensive tree planting on the land to the west of the Beeston Ring road, and nature is gradually taking over from the previously manicured fairways and greens. From here there are extensive views over towards Morley, Wortley, Armley and beyond, and on a good day one can see Baildon and Ilkley Moors.
This month’s guided walk by the Friends of Middleton Park is a ramble over this developing landscape. As with last month’s walk we hope to see summer butterflies, and we will hope for a clear day so we can enjoy the wonderful views.
Join us at 1:30 pm this Sunday (11 August) at the Visitor Centre in the park, for a bit of a longer walk than usual, lasting about two hours. Walks in the park may often include muddy or wet wooodland paths, so please wear boots or walking shoes, and appropriate clothing.
