The Friends of Middleton Park are hosting a free guided walk in Middleton Park on Sunday (27 October 2024) entitled Death in the Park.
Middleton Park in South Leeds, famous for its magnificent semi-ancient woodlands, early coal mining remains and historic railway, has been the scene of many deaths in its long past. This Sunday the Friends of Middleton Park are presenting a guided halloween walk telling the tales of some of these Deaths in the Park.
All human life is here, from despairing suicide in the park lake to cruel death by murder; tragic accidents caused by carriage, railway and aeroplane; working conditions that often held life cheap and disease and hardship that brought the grim reaper early. A walk and tales for the season!
Join us at 1pm this Sunday (27 September) at the Visitor Centre in the park, no need to book. The walk will last from an hour and a half to two hours. Walks in the park may often include muddy or wet wooodland paths, so please wear boots or walking shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather.
