An exciting new summer event has started at Tenants Hall in Middleton. In collaboration with Sew it Seams and Rags to Riches, Our Future Beeston is putting on an event where people within the community can come and learn some new skills in sewing, upcycling and reusing different fabrics and clothes.
In the sessions, participants get to choose scrap bits of denim or other fabrics to upcycle into a functional bag of their choice, whether that be a bag for life, tote bag, or a nappy bag! No previous experience is required. Tereza Mazurkiewychz, the organiser of Sew it Seams and Rags to Riches, will be running the sessions, sharing her expertise and knowledge to support participants in their sewing journey.
These sessions aim to promote the idea that the things we own can be altered to have second life, reducing waste and helping save money and the planet! It’s an opportunity to learn some new skills and let your creativity run wild. There are still some spaces left for the next two weeks running from Tenants Hall, 10am–12pm. To book on, please contact ourfuturebeestonhub@gmail.com.
The next two sessions will be on: Wednesday 14 and Wednesday 21 August 2024. Participants must be 16 or over.
Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre is located on Acre Close, Middleton Park Avenue, LS10 4HX.
