Councillor’s New Year’s Day dip

Whilst most of us will be looking for somewhere warm on New Year’s Day, perhaps staying under the duvet after the night before, one local councillor has decided to plunge into the North Sea instead.

Cllr Wayne Dixon (SDP, Middleton Park) will be taking a dip in the sea at Scarborough on New Year’s Day at 12:30pm. He will be joined by his son Isaac, who will be choosing their fancy dress outfits.

The two have set themselves a target to raise £600 for four very worthy causes:

  • Alzheimer’s Society – supporting vital research and care for those affected by dementia.
  • Middleton Park FC – helping grassroots football thrive in our community.
  • Parochial Food Club (Middleton) – providing essential food support to local families.
  • Ella’s Fight Against Neuroblastoma – Ella is a brave 12-year-old recently diagnosed with this rare childhood cancer.

Cllr Dixon said

“Every penny counts, and your generosity will make a real difference. Please donate whatever you can and help us turn a freezing dip into warmth and hope for these amazing causes.”
