Community Workshops: I’ve Got You, You’ve Got Me

I’ve Got You, You’ve Got Me: Summer Sculpture Workshops

BasementArtsProject along with Middleton based Artist/Sculptor Annabelle Richmond-Wright, are inviting you to join us as we prepare to create a new public sculpture for South Leeds. Over the summer our community workshops will introduce participants to methods of sculpting. Work produced as part of the sessions will eventually be cast and incorporated into the final sculpture to be sited on Dewsbury Road.

The theme of the sculpture and workshops is ‘I’ve got You, You’ve Got Me’. They will be a meditation on community, togetherness and aspirations for South Leeds culminating in a 7ft sculpture. We have recently run workshops with Beeston Hill St Luke’s Primary School, New Bewerley Community School and Cockburn John Charles Academy; we now extend this invitation to the rest of the community to join us in this sculptural adventure.

If you would like to create a piece of art that will form part of this monument to the community you can join us and have a go. No previous experience required, just the desire to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty in an arty fashion.

About BasementArtsProject

BasementArtsProject is a concept, a venue and a way of life. We believe that art and culture should be built within communities and nurtured by those who will be most affected by its presence.

Our programme deals with the removal of barriers within the community and is based around four pillars: Art as Entertainment, Education, Engagement & Employment.

We also provide artists at the beginning of their career with exhibitions, experiences, opportunities, mentoring, and assistance in achieving their visions.
