Autumn may only have just arrived but the Hunslet Gala organisers are already preparing for sunnier and warmer times by getting the wheels in motion for our summer event. Hunslet Gala is an annual event taking place in June on the field off Church Street in Hunslet. It is a fantastic celebration of the community and features an array of attractions including dance and musical performances in our arena, mobile farm, skateboarding, crafts, tombolas, fair rides, inflatables and more.
2024 is likely to be an exciting year as after 20 years outstanding service chairman Steve Thompson has stepped down from the helm. Read more here.
Thankfully he is still involved but we have a new and emerging organising committee who are looking to bring fresh energy and ideas. We are keen to get more local people involved in organising future events.
Do YOU have any time, skills or ideas that could help make good things happen for this wonderful community? There is a range of roles and opportunities to get involved with to match whatever time you have available. You will work as part of supportive team – it also a great way to do your part in helping the Hunslet community. You will also have plenty of fun along the way!
Newly appointed Committee Chair Ben Hutchinson says:
“I’ve attended Hunslet Gala for over a decade and helped set up on the morning of Gala day for many of those years. I love this community and love this event – it is a great celebration of all the talent and qualities Hunslet holds.
“Steve, Ian, Joyce, Pam and others have done a fantastic job over many years organising the Gala each summer. When I was invited to step up and play a part in sustaining and developing the Gala in to the future I jumped at the chance. There are great foundations here and the potential to evolve the Gala over the upcoming years is massive.
“I’m sure there are other individuals or local organisations out there who are excited by this opportunity. If this is you please, please, please get in touch! It would be great to hear from you!”
