The third South Leeds menopause support group was held in February, and attended by a mix of prior and new attendees.
Facilitated by Niki Woods, a local menopause and midlife health expert and author, the meetings offer women in South Leeds who want information or support around perimenopause and menopause an opportunity to meet other women in the same stage of life, to ask questions, and discuss issues around menopause.
The monthly meetings (which are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 7-8pm in the Roof Garden Room, Hamara Healthy Living Centre, Tempest Road, Beeston, LS11 6RD) are part of the South Leeds Menopause and Midlife Health Support pilot project.
Separate to the support group, the project also offers an online course for women who want to understand more about managing their perimenopause and menopause, and also how to improve their wider midlife health through nutrition, fitness, habits and lifestyle.
The course involves 4 weekly hour-long live sessions, and is supported by online material which attendees can absorb in their own time.
Course attendees will also receive a free book on menopause (worth £10.99) and a month’s free gym membership at 360 Fit Performance Centre gym in Holbeck (worth £30).
You can register for the course at forms.gle/Qe7xJu6Fd3u88WhC7.
The next in person menopause support session will take place on Tuesday 11 March 2025. No registration is needed to attend the drop-in sessions, women can simply turn up to receive information, support, some freebies, and the chance to make new friends in a safe and confidential supportive environment. Refreshments are provided.
Further information can be obtained by emailing bestmidlifecic@gmx.com
The project is run by Best Midlfe CIC and funded by the Councillors representing Beeston & Holbeck, Middleton Park, and Hunslet & Riverside wards.
