Beeston tribute act set to mark Springsteen’s 75th birthday

Yorkshire’s favourite Bruce Springsteen tribute celebrate The Boss’ 75th birthday with intimate Leeds gig

As rock legend Bruce Springsteen turns 75 in September a Leeds-based Springsteen tribute band marks the occasion with an intimate live performance.

The Boss & The Beeston Street Band has been capturing the spirit, energy and soul of the evergreen Springsteen for nearly ten years – playing gigs at prestigious venues such as The Brudenell Social Club, The Leeds Irish Centre and Leeds’ Millennium Square.

On Saturday 21 September 2024 they will be reliving the glory days with locals at Thorner Victory Hall near Wetherby at a special gig to celebrate his birthday.

The band is fronted by local music scene legend Darren Driver, a long-term resident of Beeston (hence the band’s name). It’s made up of six other part time but talented musicians from across Yorkshire – including Darren’s wife Lauren who plays keyboards and sings backing vocals in the band.

Darren said:

“Ever since I heard Born To Run as a kid, Bruce’s music has meant the world to me. He gives every drop of everything he has in every live show, and though his songs are about New Jersey, they could just as easily be about Beeston or Dewsbury.

“We’re not aiming to be lookalike or sound alike. We want people to feel the feelings they get at an E-Street Band show.

“Like the E-Street Band, our band is built on friendship and chemistry. The spirit means more than the specifics to us. Fronting this band is like driving a supercar – its loud, powerful and emotional.

“To celebrate Bruce’s 75th we’ll be playing music from his first album to his most recent one. It’s a chance to celebrate what he’s given us, and it’s an honour to be part of this community of Bruce fans. And it doesn’t sound like he’ll be retiring any time soon!”

Just like the real deal, The Boss & The Beeston Street Band plays live on stage for over three hours straight and has never played the same set twice.

Catch them at Thorner Victory Hall on Saturday 21 September.

The next chance to catch them is at The Brudenell Social Club on Saturday 28 December 2024.

Watch them in action at Leeds’ Millennium Square in 2019 doing Dancing in the Dark.
