Bah Humbug 10k run event 2025

On Sunday (7 December 2025) I completed my third  year of being one of the photographers for the Bah Humbug 10k run event, which is held annually every December.

The Bah Humbug run starts at South Leeds Stadium and the 10k run goes through Middleton Woods and around the Park, and back to the finish Line at South Leeds Stadium, where the medals, food and drink are served.

I made my way to near the Middleton Park Lake café, to see around 12 marshals waiting for their instructions where to marshal from. I knew some of the marshals from seeing them at Middleton Woods Parkrun.

No instructions needed for me as the run Director said go where you want, and bring back some fantastic pictures.

Where I stood there was a Marshal, I think her name was Wendy, playing some Christmas sounds on her CD player. Wendy directed the runners to turn right just past the Lakeside café ringing her bell and clapping the runners.

I loved the fun runners and all the costumes, as can be seen when Mark Bowmann uploads my pictures to the Bah Humbug Facebook page for all of you to see.

The rain did not dampen the sprits of the runners and marshals. It could have been worse, it could have snowed.

After about two and a half hours I made my way home to edit and dwindle down 500 pictures to 350.

I must say though I struggled with pain due to my arthritis, so this may be my last Bah Humbug as photographer. At 76 years old, I can’t go on forever.

But I will see you at Middleton Woods Parkrun where I also take photos on Saturdays.

Mark Bowman, the Event Director, said on Facebook:

“From your Event Director,  and everyone associated with South Leeds Lakers running club, we want to say a massive thank you to every one of you that entered our annual Bah Humbug 10k.

“It takes an army of people to put on an event like this, from the core team of volunteers working in the background for the last few months. Our amazing army of the best hi viz hero’s we’ve ever seen that cheered every runner home in the rain.

The stadium team who adapted to any issue that was thrown at them on “Sunday, the cooks, the guys who provided our finishers treats, our juniors handing out the medals, our partners and suppliers.

Keith Senior, Mark Bowman and the Ginger bread Man.

“Thank you , Kingy the Lion and of course our official starter Keith Senior, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

“We hope you all enjoyed today’s event, you’ve raised an awful lot of money for local good causes.”
