Residents in Beeston have been puzzled by the continued presence of Police staff outside a former office building near the Tommy Wass pub on Dewsbury Road.
At the beginning of October South Leeds Life reported that a search of the premises had been halted due to the presence of asbestos.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police told South Leeds Life
“We can’t fully search the building until it can be made safe and that’s taking some time to find a solution to.”
A number of cannabis plants were removed from the building for destruction before the presence of asbestos was identified and the scene sealed off. Asbestos, which is present in many buildings, can present a serious health risk if fibres are inhaled when the material is damaged or disturbed.
The crime scene needs to be protected until it can be searched thoroughly.
