Local people in South Leeds can Kick Start a career in construction with a course offering onsite work experience, practical skills training and the opportunity to gain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
Leeds Federated is working in partnership with their repairs and maintenance partner Keepmoat Property Services to deliver the KickStart programme. Twelve places are available on the course which provides the basic practical skills in areas such as plastering, decorating, joinery and other skills needed to move towards a career in construction.
Those completing the course can also apply for one of two full-time apprenticeships with Keepmoat and get support in updating their CV and interview skills to help them in their job search.
Jonathan Rogers, Partnerships and Employer Liaison Officer at Leeds Federated said,
“Kick Start is a great way for people to move into a career in construction, whether they fancy a career change or have just left college. It gives valuable practical skills and industry recognised training which can be a great first step to finding work.”
Linda Crosby, Head of Customer Care and Community Involvement from Keepmoat Property Services, said: “We have successfully run a number of KickStart programmes around the country and are delighted to be bringing it to Leeds for the first time. KickStart does not just give participants an introduction to the construction industry – our training sessions on interviews and CV writing provide the participants with helpful tips and advice for getting a job.
Applications for places on the course close on 20 February and help with your application is available today (Monday 17 February) from 2pm at BITMO’s GATE in Belle Isle.
The course will run for six weeks starting on 3 March. For more information about Kick Start or to apply, please contact Jonathan Rogers on (0113) 386 1026 or email your CV to jonathan.rogers@lfha.co.uk.
