Aleks set for World Kickboxing Championships

In just two weeks time the Smith family from Middleton will be in Orlando Florida where their son Aleksander Smith will be fighting and representing his country at the prestigious WKC World Kickboxing Championships.

Aleks has only been training in Martial Arts for two years. He trains five days a week, between BMMA Morley and BMMA Leeds. He stays for all the sessions that he can and is now just three belts away from earning his black belt.

His mother  Dorota said:

“Aleks has been taking part in all the competitions that he can in preparation for Worlds and I have to say he’s done ever so well to compete with boys much bigger and more experienced than he is and to get himself onto the podium on more occasions than not. Sometimes having to dig very deep in matches to come frome behind and to pinch the last point to get the win.”

Aleks is now in the process of managing his diet and weight to make sure that he makes the right weight for his category and its been really tough for him having to give up the foods that he loves. The smile on his face each day, now that he’s back to his fighting weight is worth every bit of that sacrifice.

His family and friends are ever so proud of him and we have to say a massive thank you to the British Military Martial Arts family for preparing Aleks for this competition.

Dorota added:

“As this trip is self funded, really quite expensive and has no official financial support system we have done what what most competitors do and set up a go fund me page for family, friends and anyone who would like to support Aleks for this competition. Please feel free to visit the page below and make a donation.”
