Pupils at New Bewerley Community School in Beeston have a new outdoor facility with the opening of an all weather sports track.
The all weather track is already a hit with the children who are keen to get on their scooters at any opportunity. The track cost £22,765 to install and has been paid for from the school’s sports premuim.
Katie Stamer, the lead teacher for physical education at the school said:
“This is a great addition to the school. It can be used in curriculum time, at break times and for after school activities. It’s mainly used at the moment for scooters, but the future possibilities are endless.
“The children thoroughly enjoy this active, inclusive experience that contributes to the government’s additional 30 minutes a day active initiative.”
On hand to help with the opening were the Year 6 cheer-leading team another of the varied opportunities for physical activity offered by the school.
