A national education charity is opening its doors in Beeston on Saturday (10 October 2015). IntoUniversity provides academic support and mentoring to local students aged 7-18, outside of school hours.
The IntoUniversity academic support programme runs after school at their base at Hillside on Beeston Road. Trained tutors and University of Leeds volunteers support students with their homework, coursework, revision and applications. Sessions run on Monday and Thursday 4pm-5:30pm and Tuesday or Wednesday 3:30pm-5pm.
As well as the after school programme, IntoUniversity Leeds South is running school FOCUS programmes with its local partner schools, Hugh Gaitskell, Hunlset Moor, Greenmount, New Bewerley, The South Leeds Academy, Cockburn and Elliot Hudson College.
Eleanor Rowley from IntoUniversity said:
“We began 13 years ago as a homework club in North Kensington, London. We are now operating eighteen learning centres across the country. We are very excited to be opening the centre at Hillside in Beeston this Saturday.
“Over the next few months we have community and parental engagement opportunities taking place in the centre, so please do come down to the open day on Saturday 10th October at 12pm to find out more.”
