What’s happening in BITMOs GATE
Each month we have a range of activities, events and courses available for FREE at BITMOs GATE, which is the new resource centre next to Belle Isle TMO’s housing office on Belle Isle Road.
October sees the GATE ramp up their activities and headlining this month is our second community coach trip of the year which takes place on Wednesday 26th October. This time its ‘Belle Isle to Blackpool’ to see the illuminations. Spaces are limited for this so reserve yours with a £3 deposit. The coach heads out of Belle Isle at 11am and all being well will return for 9.30pm. There will be plenty of time for people to have a wander when we arrive at the seaside!
To mark World Mental Health day the GATE will be hosting the Great Belle Isle Balloom Race on Monday 10th October at 12pm.
Discover more about the history of Belle Isle with the Belle Isle History Group on Tuesday 18th October between 1pm and 3pm at Windmill Primary School.
You could also find out about Pop Up Community Theatre’s Group new christmas play during this meeting which is being done in partnership with the group and pupils from Windmill Primary School.
On Sunday 30th October the GATE will also host the Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust Sunday Lunch between 1pm and 3pm.

Computers
Our computers are available to use for free between 9am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. We also have Wi-Fi if you’d prefer to bring your own laptop, tablet or smart phone.

Health Trainer
Each Monday the GATE has appointments available. Katie will provide up to 8 confidential one-to-one sessions to help support and motivate you in achieving small goals to improve your health; this could be losing weight, starting to exercise, changing eating habits. Art Class

NEW Sewing Group
Learn how to make and mend between 12.30 and 3pm in the GATE with Medina and friends.
Energy Affordability Adviser
Fortnightly drop in servce running in October on the 3rd, 17th and 31st of the month. Come along to speak with Vicky, who will provide advice on all things energy related. So if you’re interested in comparing suppliers, switching suppliers or applying to an energy trust fund pop along on Mondays

Functional Skills English
In partnership with WEA the GATE will host functional skills classes every Tuesday morning between 10am and 12.
Tasty Tuesdays
In partnership with South Leeds Foodbank and the Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust, BITMOs GATE serves a hot lunch – soup and a bread roll – every Tuesday 11am till 1pm… Tasty Tuesdays!
Leeds City Credit Union
Pop along to the information point for advice on all things Credit Union with Ashleigh and friends. Find out about how to set up an account, access low interest loans and even how to save for christmas!

Job club
BITMOs GATE aims to help you get on the path to employment! Support with job applications, CV writing, cover letters and interview skills from James on Tuesdays between 1pm to 4pm. To book an appointment drop into the GATE or email gate@belleisletmo.co.uk.

Citizens Advice Bureau
If you need help and advice to resolve a problem, you can visit the Citizens Advice Bureau at BITMOs GATE on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Appointments are required, please call 0113 3448367 to book an appointment.

Guitar in the Community
Free guitar lessons with John at the GATE. He’ll teach you how to read music and play chords for free in a friendly group setting

Walk and Talk Group
Everybody welcome to join in – routes vary. The group set off from the GATE at 12.00pm and all being well arrive back in the GATE at 1pm for a cuppa. We are now Dementia Friendly.

Learn how to ‘surf’ the internet, create an email account and send/receive emails. Classes can also include help using universal jobmatch, Microsoft Office and anything else you need support with! Starts again October 6th at 9.30am

Need some help with your smart phone, laptop or tablet? Bring it the GATE and we’ll share useful hints and tips to get you making the most of your device.
