Shoppers at the White Rose Centre will be invited to get their heart rhythm checked on Saturday (18 October 2014).
The ‘Know Your Heart Rhythm’ campaign is an arrhythmia awareness campaign run by the West Yorkshire Arrhythmia Service (WYAS).
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of issues such as atrial fibrillation, the most common heart rhythm disorder, and provide basic life saving advice to members of the public.
At an event, which will take place at the White Rose Centre on Saturday , trained staff will be available from 9am to 7pm to record ECGs and make a basic diagnosis to advise you about your heart rhythm. Passers by will also be invited to take part in resuscitation and automatic defibrillator demonstrations.
The WYAS team is based at Leeds General Infirmary and made up of doctors, nurses, physiologists and administrators. All staff are employed by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
At their last event they performed more than 700 ECGs and taught the basics of life support to over 500 people.
