Reaching for litter

Pupils from Cockburn Reach Academy joined local councillor Ed Carlisle (Green, Hunslet & Riverside) for a community litter pick in Beeston.

This enabled us to take learning beyond the classroom whilst making a real difference. This experience helped pupils build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility as they collected litter, sorted recyclables, and explored ways to care for their local environment.

Working alongside a community leader strengthened their connection to Beeston and showed how young people can play an active role in looking after the places they live.

  1. Well done to these young people for taking part in the litter clearing day , it’s awful that some people don’t seem to care about disposing of their rubbish in the correct manner, so thank you to everyone involved in removing the rubbish
