Locals invited to take part in record-breaking skate at White Rose

White Rose Shopping Centre is hosting a once-in-a-lifetime event on Wednesday 26 November 2025: an attempt to set a world record for the most high fives in 30 seconds with a seasonal twist, as all participants will be on ice skates.

Joining the record-breaking skate are local ice hockey superstars Leeds Knights, with Liam Peyton and Balint Pakozdi from the team taking the role of speed skaters to give as many high fives as possible within the time allowed, as well as much-loved radio presenter Rich Williams hosting the occasion and keeping participants’ energy up.

Guests are invited to skate for free to take part in the world record attempt at the White Rose ice rink from 5–7pm on Wednesday 26 November, with complementary tickets bookable online now.

Participants will receive suitably festive attire, as well as a participation certificate and rosettes for spot prizes.

The ice rink is accessible and suitable for all ages, with skate aids on offer, so everyone can take part in the momentous event.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at White Rose, said:

“Our ice rink has been enormously popular in previous years, and for 2025 we wanted an extra-special celebration to mark its return. What better than our very own world record attempt?

“Together with the outstanding Leeds Knights, we stand a great chance at setting an unbeatable record, and we’re excited to invite guests to join us for an evening that might just go down in history.”

White Rose’s ice rink is open from Thursday 20 November, with an early bird discount of 20% off all tickets (T&Cs apply, see website for details) by booking before midnight on 19 November. Families are invited to enjoy fun themed events, as well as regular Friday Disco Nights plus special Parent & Toddler and Quiet Sessions.
