Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.
We start on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.
Trinity Network host their Community Reflections Café including a full English breakfast on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG
The Leeds Playhouse community tour reaches Middleton Parochial Hall, North Lingwell Road on Saturday at 5pm, as they present Robyn Hood a family friendly show by Fidget Theatre. Book your £3 tickets here.
It’s D-Day Weekend at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds Dock, LS10 1LT. events include WW2 blanks gun firing demonstrations and performances of first-hand testimony from those on the beaches. The event is free, but you are advised to book tickets to guarantee entry.
St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD are serving up their monthly family breakfast at 9:30am, you can stay for morning worship at 10:30am, but you’re not obliged to.
Sunday also sees the monthly Farmers Market running from 10am-4pm with lots of good food straight from the producers, at Armouries Square, Leeds Dock, LS10 1LT.
Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club host two T20 matches on Sunday afternoon with their first XI taking on Northowram Fields at 1pm, and then Wakefield St Michaels at 4pm. Entry to the ground at Gipsy Lane Beeston, LS11 5TT is free, there will be a DJ, barbecue and bar.
Leeds Community Energy are meeting at BITMO on Wednesday 5:30-7pm. Hear from the BITMO team and about a new community energy initiative called Seacroft Power. Bring your questions and ideas about community energy schemes. BITMO is at Aberfield Gate, in Belle Isle, LS10 3QH.
On Friday Skelton Grange Environment Centre (LS10 1RS) is hosting Crafting Conversation and Connections a day for ‘community-minded people’ to get together with a mix of practical workshops (including willow weaving) and inspiring speakers, as well as a mini Big Lunch, as part of the charity’s annual initiative to bring communities and neighbourhoods together. The event runs from 9:30am-1:30pm and is free but booking is essential here.
And finally, why not pop in to the Creative Communities exhibition at Cranmore & Raylands Community Centre and view the amazing art that has been created by local people over the last year on the theme of Pride In Place. The centre is at the end of Cranmore Drive in Belle Isle, LS10 4AW. The exhibition is open 12:30-3pm and is free.
