International law firm Gowling WLG is moving into the fifth floor at Globe Point in Holbeck on a long-term lease.
Relocating from Park Row in the city, Gowling WLG will occupy a 4,477 sq ft suite with a dedicated exterior 1,970 sq ft terrace. The company is the sixth tenant to sign up at the striking flat iron building in Temple Leeds, which lies less than a five-minute walk from Leeds City Station’s southern entrance.
The high-quality workspace and terrace, along with the building’s ESG credentials and ground floor amenity, event and food and drink space, attracted the global firm.
Julia Dacre Field, partner and Gowling WLG’s head of residential development in Leeds, said:
“We are thrilled to have moved into Globe Point – the workspace and general amenities are outstanding, and in a fantastic location. Our plan has always been to ensure that we have the right permanent space for our team in Leeds and we look forward to delivering for our clients and pursuing further growth in the market from our new home.”
The company joins law firm, Reed Smith, brand design agency Robot Foods, marketing and data science company Jaywing, Specialist Computer Centres (SCC) part of the global Rigby Group, and Eleven the 65-cover ground floor café bar.
As a result of this latest deal, only 12,957 sq ft remains at the 40,430 sq ft seven-storey office development. Available as an entire 6,500 sq ft floor or as individual suites from 2,000 sq ft, once fully occupied, Globe Point will be home to more than 450 people.
Designed to BREEAM Excellent, the workspace maximises natural daylight to deliver healthy, flexible workspaces. Globe Point has also achieved WiredScore Platinum certification, the highest possible level of accreditation which only around 10% of worldwide buildings have achieved. The independent accreditation means a building has been designed as best in class, supporting customers with best-in-class technological capacity, internet and mobile connectivity, digital infrastructure resilience, security and future proofing.
Antonia Martin Wright, director of commercial development at CEG said:
“We are delighted to welcome the Gowling WLG team to Globe Point. It is the first of our developments to complete within the Temple district of Leeds and has proved to be a huge success. Well located adjacent to the southern entrance of Leeds City Station, it has fast become a thriving business community, adding to the vibrancy of the area.”
Globe Point is being marketed by Fox Lloyd Jones (FLJ) and Knight Frank on behalf of CEG. Nick Salkeld, director of FLJ said:
“Globe Point continues to attract a high calibre and diverse mix of occupiers seeking a flight to quality and ESG emphasis in their new Leeds workplace. We are thrilled to welcome Gowling WLG to Globe Point. It’s a ringing endorsement for the building and the Leeds Southbank to attract such a prestigious international law firm scaling up their regional presence.”
Cushman and Wakefield acted on behalf of Gowling WLG. Sam Jamieson, Office Agent at Cushman & Wakefield, said:
“Globe Point is one of the finest and most sought-after Grade A offices in the city of Leeds due to its innovative design and strong environmental credentials. It was a pleasure to represent Gowling WLG throughout this deal and secure their new premises in this landmark development set in the thriving Temple district.”
