What’s On Roundup 10-16 December 2022

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. Please note that our online What’s On calendar here is currently out of action

We start this weekat Middleton Circus where the monthly Makers Market takes place from 10am-2pm. It’s a great place to find Christmas presents from luxury knits to bath bombs and sweet treats and you’ll be supporting local people.

Hunslet Community Hub & Library host their free Family Film Club on Saturday morning at 11am. We’re not sure what they are showing but there are rumours of an exciting train journey …

The Christmas Tree Festival continues this weekend at St Mary’s church on Town Street, Beeston and is open to view on Saturday 10am-2pm and Sunday 12-2pm

Renowned new music group The Manchester Collective perform at The Holbeck on Saturday at 6pm – tickets from www.slunglow.org/shows

The Hunslet Club Rogues present a Disney Christmas Sing-a-long Showcase at The Hunslet Club on Hillidge Road with shows on Saturday at 5:30pm and Sunday at 4pm. Click here for full information and tickets.

Runners not taking part in the Bah Humbug 10k trail race in Middleton Park on Sunday morning (organised by South Leeds Lakers), may wish to join the Recovery Runners for their Rudolph River Run, leaving the Lock Keepers House, Armouries Drive, LS10 1LE at 10am. Bring along items for their foodbank collection.

Sharp Lane Community Centre on Cranmore Drive are hosting a free Christmas Kids Disco on Sunday afternoon, 2-4pm. Dancing, prizes, refreshments and Santa’s grotto.

Roller Skaters are invited to join Middleton Skaters at Middleton Leisure Centre for their session on Sunday 2:30-4:30pm. STOP PRESS: this event is sold out!

The West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra will be performing Christmas music at the The Holbeck on Sunday afternoon at 3pm. Book at www.slunglow.org/shows

The weekly Story & Rhyme for pre-school children and their grown ups has a Festive Special on Monday, 10:30-11:30am, at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library.

The Greenmounts and Surrounding Area Tenants and Residents Association meets on Monday at 6:30pm at the United Free Church on Malvern Road in Beeston.

Skelton Grange Environment Centre’s ‘A Winter’s Trail’ runs from Tuesday to Thursday. You can book slots between 4-6:30pm. Book via www.tcv.org.uk/skeltongrange

Asha Neighbourhood Project in stratford Street, Beeston arew hosting a drop in vaccination session on Wednesday, 10am-2pm. This session is for women and children aged 5-12. You can talk to health staff about any concerns you have and get both Covid and Flu jabs.

Hunslet Tenants & Residents Association will be meeting on Wednesday, 6pm at Hunslet Community Hub & Library.

Leeds Baby Bank will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support to people to access support services, community activity and longer-term support. They also gift families an essential top-up of items like nappies, wipes, formula and toiletries.

And finally, on Thursday evening there’s a fundraising evening at The Holbeck in support of striking posties, organised by Acorn and Enough Is Enough. There will be a quiz, DJs food and cakes with all money going towards the strike fund.
