What’s On Roundup: 7-13 December 2019

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

The Holbeck Christmas Market is on Saturday, 11am-3pm at St Matthew’s Community Centre, there will lots of stalls, refreshments and we’ve heard Santa may make an appearance.

It’s too late to join the Bah Humbug 10k run on Sunday, but you can still volunteer to marshal or just come along and cheer the runners. The race starts at 10:30am at South Leeds Stadium and loops around Middleton Park. Children can join Harry The Hawk for a free fun run on the track after the start of the adult race.

The Church of the Nazarene on Hunslet Hall Road are hosting their monthly free community meal on Sunday from 12:15pm, everyone is welcome.

There’s a chance to avoid getting on the naughty list ahead of Christmas by joining the Your Space Litter pick in Belle Isle on Sunday, 1-3pm. Meet at St John & St Barnabas church and bring your Santa hat!

Friends of Middleton Park host a Carols and Craft afternoon on Sunday 1-4pm at the Middleton Park Visitor Centre. The refreshments will include homemade cakes.

Leeds Dads are holding their Christmas party on Sunday afternoon 2-4pm at The Holbeck club on Jenkinson Lawn. Boom Chicka Boom will be getting the party started and as it’s Christmas, mothers and grandparents are welcome too.

Leeds United entertain Hull City on Tuesday evening, kick off 7:45pm. If you live near the ground you can expect traffic congestion before and after the match.

On Thursday St Francis Primary School in Beeston will be holding their Holly Bazaar Christmas Fayre with proceeds going to playground improvements.

Join the Ho Ho Ho Down Christmas Party at Cottingley Community Centre on Thursday from 5pm. Food, DJ, Line Dancing and Santa all for £3!

It’s the General Election so don’t forget to vote on Thursday. Polling stations will be open from 7am-10pm.

And finally, it’s the Lantern Festival in Cross Flatts Park on Friday, 5-7pm. The magical event will feature carols, crafts and live animals plus a Junk Christmas Tree competition, an orienteering trail around the park and a giant snow globe.
