What’s On Roundup 25 September- 1 October 2021

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

Another month has rolled around so it’s time for “The Weekenders” monthly craft and homemade food market, taking place at The Bridge Café in Cross Flatts Park on Saturday from 9:30am-12:30pm. You’ll find a range of stalls selling plants, stained glass, cup cakes and samosas – even handmade dog treats. They’re all made by and sold by local people so get down and support them.

If you are still get your Covid vaccinations, you can Grab a Jab 7 days a week at the Leeds Covid Vaccination Centre,  next to Elland Road site from 7:30am-5:30pm. The centre will close early at 11:45am on Saturday head of Leeds United’s home game against West Ham, kick off is at 3pm so watch out for heavy traffic in Beeston.

Covid Jabs are also available at the St Mary’s Parochial Hall, North Lingwell Road, Middleton on Saturday 12:30–7pm and Sunday 9am–6pm.

The Friends of Middleton Park will be rounding off their summer programme with a concert by The Friendly Band. If you enjoy brass band music, get down to the bandstand on Sunday 2-4pm. Tea and cakes will be on sale from the visitor centre.

Middleton Park Baptist Church is holding a service of Comfort and Remembrance at 6:30pm on Sunday. The church is opposite Middleton Primary School on Middleton Park Avenue.

Now that we are into the autumn term its worth reminding you about The Hunslet Club’s youth clubs. The Junior Youth Club runs every Monday and Wednesday, 4:30-7pm for girls and boys aged 8-12 years, it costs just 50p. The open access Youth Club runs every weekday 6-9pm for young people aged 13 and over and is free. There’s no need to book, just turn up – you’ll find plenty of activities to choose from.

Hunslet Cemetery volunteers meet at 10am by the Chapel on the last Wednesday of the month. Anyone can attend, you don’t need anything except old clothes and sturdy shoes or boots that you don’t mind getting muddy; a snack or packed lunch and drink. Everything else is supplied.

Middleton Elderly Aid will be hosting their Arm In arm Memory Café for those living with dementia and their carers, on Wednesday, 1:30-3:30pm at their social centre on Acre Road.

And finally, the charity shop at Beeston Hill United Free Church on Malvern Road has reopened. It runs every Friday morning 8.30-11.30am and at the moment all items are 50p and children’s clothing is 10p.
