What’s On Roundup: 16-22 November 2019

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

You wait ages for a bus campaign and then two along at once. Today, (Friday 15 November) a meeting has been called to demand a more frequent service on the 86 route. The meeting is at Dewsbury Road community Hub at 5:30pm.

If you play outdoor sports, please be aware that all Council sports pitches are closed again this weekend because of the recent heavy rain.

There are two Christmas Fayres at sheltered housing complexes on Saturday. Acre Court in Middleton are holding a craft fair, whilst Cardinal Court in Beeston is also hosting a fair, both events are 1-3pm.

The Tetley, Hunslet’s own art gallery, have a drop in Family Art Workshop on Saturday 11am-3pm. Children aged 5-11 are invited to experiment with an array of craft materials, including lollipop sticks, paper and stickers.

Saturday sees the Leeds Young Archaeologists Club’s monthly meeting at Middleton Park Visitor Centre from 10am-12pm. The club is for any child, aged 8-16, who has an interest in exploring history, archaeology and life in the past.

Leeds Dads hold their monthly meet up on Sunday at The Holbeck club (Jenkinson Lawn, LS11 9QX). This is a chance for Dads with pre-school children to get together and play together.

Slung Low, Holbeck’s own theatre company, present the play ‘Jadek’ on Sunday, 5-6pm at The Holbeck club on Jenkinson Lawn. “Don’t miss out, this play will stay with you for some time.” Read our full review of this play here

True North, a calendar featuring faces of Holbeck, will be launched on Tuesday 6-8pm at the Northern Monk Brewery at Marshall’s Mill. The photos have been taken by members of Holbeck Elderly Aid and profits from the sale of the calendar will go to the charity.

And finally, St Luke’s Tenants & Residents group meet on Thursday at 6pm at St Luke’s Primary School on Beeston Road. The meeting is for residents in the area around Malvern Road.
