Three sports fans from South Leeds are trekking the 110 mile Cleveland Way this week to raise funds for MNDA in honour of Rob Burrow.
Richard Harrison, Martin Lee and Phil Hodgson are all run leaders with the South Leeds Lakers running club and all support different professional sports club: Richard is a big Leeds United fan; Martin supports Leeds Rhinos; whilst Phil is a Board member at Hunslet RLFC.
The three have put their rivalries to one side and joined forces as South Leeds United to raise funds to help tackle Motor Neurone Disease (MND) which has struck down Rhinos’ hero Rob Burrow. Inspired by his determination not to be beaten by the disease; and by Kevin Sinfield’s ‘7 marathons in 7 days’; they set themselves the challenge of walking the Cleveland Way in five days. The route winds from Helmsley to Filey through the North York Moors national park.
Before setting off Martin Lee said:
“Rob has done a fantastic job in raising the profile of this terrible disease. With your backing we can play our small part in beating it”
The three have already reached their initial target of £2,000, but are keen to see this grow and are calling on supporters of all three clubs to support them via their Just Giving page here.
