South Leeds Stadium to host two Challenge Cup ties this weekend

A feast of rugby league action is promised as South Leeds Stadium, at the John Charles Centre for Sport, will host not one but two ties in the Ladbroke’s Challenge Cup third round this weekend (24/25 February 2018).

On Saturday 24 February Hunslet Club Parkside ARLFC will play Workington Town RLFC. Hunslet Club Parkside play in the National Conference League and have won successive promotions in the last two seasons to reach the top flight of the community game. Their Cumbrian opposition, who won the Challenge Cup in 1951-52, are semi-professional and currently rivals of Hunslet RLFC (formerly Hunslet Hawks) in the BetFred League 1 – the third tier of Rugby League.

Hunslet Club Parkside v Workington Town:  Kick off 2:30pm on Saturday 24 February. Admission prices: £10 Adult; £5 Concessions and £2.50 for Children Under 16.

Then on Sunday, Hunslet RLFC face local community club Oulton Raiders ARLFC also at South Leeds Stadium. Hunslet have won the Challenge Cup twice, first in 1907-08 when they won all four cups, then again in 1933-34. Oulton Raiders complete alongside Hunslet Club Parkside in the top division of the National Conference League.
