Organisers of our summer community festivals are gearing up. Beeston Festival announced this week that their annual bash in Cross Flatts Park will be on Saturday 6 June and they are taking stall bookings already.
News updates on the Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan website this week include a report on the last forum meeting and progress with the Unity homes on Brown Lane East which are due to be finished next week.
In a busy week for Health For All, they report that they are able to increase their team of Health Trainers, particularly to work with Eastern European and other ethnic minority groups and with men. They also introduce Claire Jones who can help community groups find funding for their activities. Finally they have a new family cookery course starting next week at Beeston Village Community Centre.
The Leeds Young Archaeologists Club will be in search of elephant skulls and long boats this Saturday (21 February). They are visiting the Discovery Centre, near the Royal Armouries, which houses items from the Museum Service’s collection that are not currently exhibited.
Residents at H2010 on the waterfront at Hunslet have been discussing a proposed waste plant on the opposite bank. Although it failed to get planning permission, the company has appealed and there will be a public enquiry later this year.
