Slung Low Christmas Fayre to go ahead

Slung Low’s traditional Christmas Fayre will go ahead on Saturday (5 December 2020) at The Holbeck, Jenkinson Lawn as planned.

This year’s event will take place in the car park to ensure it is Covid-compliant, but will feature the usual mix of craft stalls, ideal for those last minute Christmas presents; a brass band; plus mulled wine and a hog roast (or vegan alternative) at pay-as-you-feel prices. The event runs from 12-4pm.

Slung Low’s Artistic Director Alan Lane commented:

“The Government has very kindly agreed that the second lockdown will end just in time for our tenth Christmas Fayre on Saturday 5 December. Come along, have fun and stay safe!”

Unfortunately, two indoor family shows planned for December have had to be cancelled because of the Tier 3 restrictions, but a final round everyone’s favourite Holbeck-based interactive gameshow: “You Can Bet It’s Christmas” will go ahead on Wednesday 23 December. Once again it will be staged in the car park and you can watch it on Facebook or YouTube in the comfort of your own home from 6pm. Or you can be part of the show, Alan explained:

“This is a Leeds People’s Theatre Production so we need to cast the crowd for this live broadcast. And we want you!

“You sign up for a slot just like you would if you were booking a ticket to see the show.

“Then we’ll email you instructions nearer the time about what you should wear (warm, waterproof clothing, possibly even a special costume) and send you some responses we might want you to practise for the show e.g. I say ‘Merry’, you say ‘Christmas’. You won’t be asked to do anything that you’re not comfortable with.”
