Police incident closes roads in Beeston

The bottom of Cemetery Road in Beeston, together with the westbound carriageway of the M621 were closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon (19 May 2019) after Police were called to the scene of a stabbing.

In a statement West Yorkshire Police said:

“At 3:03pm yesterday (19/5) police were called to reports of a disturbance in Normanton Place, Beeston.

“A 34-year-old man was located nearby in Cemetery Road with stab wounds that were not considered life threatening.

“He was treated in hospital and subsequently arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis following the discovery of cannabis growing set-up at the address in Normanton Place. He is currently in custody.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting crime reference 13190254648 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Roads remained closed for several hours for scene of crime officers to examine the area, but are open again today.
