Open day at Elland Road Police Station

People across South Leeds are being invited to join in a range of activities and get an insight into local policing at a special open day event at the city’s main police station.

Elland Road will be playing host to the annual event from 11am-3pm on Sunday 29 September 2019.

This year’s event will be helping to raise funds for mental health charity Leeds Mind.

A near marathon run by a group of officers around Elland Road, Stainbeck and Pudsey police stations will be helping to boost the total raised.

The range of attractions on offer include West Yorkshire Police Band, emergency service vehicles, a selection of supercars, Leeds United Foundation, Guide Dogs Sensory Van, Leeds City Council Smoothie Bikes and Roller Bikes.

There will be mascots, Percy the Police Car, mini police uniforms, henna ‘tattooing’, face painting, soft play area, and free bicycle security tagging.

Visitors can investigate a mock crime scene, take their fingerprints, earn £10 being photographed for the Viper identification unit, and get a White Rose Beauty College treatment at the event, which is being supported by the White Rose Shopping Centre.

Leeds District Commander, Chief Superintendent Steve Cotter said:

“The open day is a great opportunity for people across Leeds to come and talk to us about the work we do every day to keep them safe, and to make the most of the range of activities on offer while supporting the vital work that Leeds Mind does in our communities.

“We hope as many people as possible will come down and join us on the day and make the event a real success.”
