Obituary: Shane Telford

It is with great sadness that I report that The Hunslet Club has lost one of our longest serving volunteer coaches.
Shane Telford lost his short battle with cancer on Sunday 10 February, aged just 36.

Shane Telford was “Mr Hunslet” he had been coaching for around 10 years with us and he’s worked with lots of young people helping them to develop their skills on and off the pitch.
He was an absolute gentleman who was selfless and an all round great person.

Shane grew up in Hunlet, studying at Rodillian School (now Academy) and Leeds College of Building, he worked for a local building firm, KW Builders Ltd.

Over the years Shane helped out with lots of teams, not only the teams he was directly involved with. Up until recently Shane was involved with our open age reserves team as a player/coach, as well as coaching our u12 boys team.
Shane had a real passion for football and helping people, he will be sadly missed by his Hunslet family.

We offer our most heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Joanne, Kieran, Darcy and Harley at this difficult time.
Shane will forever remain in our thoughts.
