New look for the South Leeds Life website

We have given the South Leeds Life website a bit of an overhaul this weekend (15-16 December 2018) we hope you like the new look.

As well as using the full width of the screen on laptops and desktop computers enabling us to show larger pictures, the new design should work better for you if you read South Leeds Life on your phone or tablet.

We have always tried to be transparent, including the sources of our stories. South Leeds Life receives dozens of press releases every day, many get deleted straight away because they are not relevant, but we do use quite a few. These are reviewed, edited and posted by myself as editor. In the past you could be confused into thinking I had written them from scratch. To be clearer we have now created a new by-line called ‘Press Release’ with a clear link back to the source of the article.

We have also renamed ‘South Leeds Life Reporter’ to ‘Guest Post’. This by-line is for any reader to submit an article. We encourage all our readers to tell us their news, and write the article themselves if they feel confident. You can submit your article and photos by email to info@southleedslife.com or use the Create an article for South Leeds Life page.

On the right hand side of the page we have added a Translate function for readers whose first language isn’t English and a link to our Complaints procedure. Can I also remind you that you can subscribe to a daily email with our latest headlines and make sure you never miss a story.

Behind the scenes we are working to speed up the time it takes each page to load.

If you have any comments about the new website, please do let us know.
