A pioneering grants fund with £150,000 to give to local Leeds-based organisations and groups opens today (15 March 2023). In partnership with the National Lottery Climate Action Fund, Climate Action Leeds, Leeds Community Foundation and Together for Peace, the fund will award grants of up to £5,000 to local organisations, with an idea for new initiatives that encourage nature or reduce carbon.
Shahed Molvi of Leeds Community Foundation, who are partners in the scheme, said:
“Whether it’s a community composting scheme or a local clothing swap, any group that is based in Leeds, with an idea for taking climate action in their local area, can apply.”
Any Leeds-based group or organisation can apply, so long as they have an annual income of less than £150,000.
Sue Hoey of Together For Peace said:
“Local groups all over the city have great ideas to reduce carbon, promote nature-friendly activity, or increase social justice. Helping people realise those ideas, and use their knowledge, is what this fund is all about.”
Anybody who is interested in applying to apply to Climate Action Leeds Community Grants fund can find out more on the ‘Open Grants’ page of the Leeds Community Foundation website here: www.leedscf.org.uk/open-grants
The deadline for applications in this window is 12 noon on Monday 24 April 2023. The fund will also be open for applications twice more later in 2023.
