If you’re a fan of vintage transport you’re in for a treat this weekend at Middleton Railway.

Middleton Railway has teamed up with the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills to organise the Festival of Transport 2013.

The Festival runs from Saturday to Monday over the bank holiday weekend (24th-26th August). The two sites will be linked by a vintage bus that will also tour the sites of Leeds locomotive builders. A display of old adverts in the exhibition hall will show just how many products were “Made In Leeds” down the years.

Middleton Railway will be running extra trains using three steam locomotives and a diesel loco. The newly restored horse drawn tram car 107 will be giving rides on Sunday and Monday. There will be working steam traction engines and some very rare vehicles on display.

If you’re keen to get behind the scenes at Middleton Railway, there are tours of the workshops and the ever-popular “Driver for a Fiver” when you can ride on the footplate and drive a steam train.

Entry to the festival is £8 for adults, £2 for children or £18 for a family. Tram rides are an extra £2.
