Middleton Primary School opens brand-new nursery for 3–4 year olds

Middleton Primary School in south Leeds, part of the Cockburn Multi-Academy Trust, has announced the opening of a brand-new school nursery, offering high-quality early years education for children aged three and four in the LS10 area and surrounding communities.

The purpose-built nursery has been designed specifically to meet the needs of young children, providing a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where pupils can learn through play and develop strong foundations for future learning.

Flexible funded places are available from September 2026, including 30-hour full-time provision from Monday to Friday, as well as 15-hour part-time places offered across two patterns: Monday to Wednesday morning, or Wednesday afternoon through to Friday. This flexible approach aims to support families with varying childcare and work commitments.

The nursery is staffed by experienced and fully qualified Early Years professionals who are passionate about nurturing each child’s development. Children benefit from a high-quality Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, with activities tailored to encourage curiosity, confidence and independence.

As part of an established primary school, last rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, the nursery offers a seamless transition into Reception. Children will become familiar with the school environment, routines and staff, helping them to settle quickly and feel secure when they move into full-time education.

Mrs Tissiman, Headteacher at Middleton Primary School said:

“We are incredibly proud to be opening our own nursery within the school. At the heart of our provision is a commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported to thrive. We work closely with families to ensure every child gets the best possible start to their education.”

Middleton Primary School celebrates the rich diversity of its inner-city community and is committed to supporting all children, including those who may require additional support or challenge.

Applications are now open and families interested in applying for a nursery place are encouraged to contact the school directly for an application form or to arrange a visit. Telephone: 0113 271 7969;Email: info@middletonprimary.org; or vist the website: www.middletonprimary.org
