Much-loved South Leeds tribute band ‘The Locals’ are performing live at the Parnaby Tavern in Hunslet this Saturday (2 September 2017), and South Leeds Life caught up with them to find out more.
The Locals are: father and son Buzz (singer and guitarist) and Dave (guitar), Ian (drums), and Kenny (bass). All from south Leeds, they formed four years ago to play a charity gig at the Drysalters pub (on Elland Road, opposite Cottingley) – and “people quite liked it, so we kept going!”
They’ve continued to play regularly at the Drysalters, who they singled out for thanks (“they’ve done a lot for us”), and have developed a wide repertoire of material from the 60s up to the present – including Bowie, ZZ Top, the Buzzcocks and other punk, “all sorts”.
Drummer Ian summed up:
“We’ve got a large following now, from the gigs. And a lot of other people know us locally, but haven’t heard us play. I think they’ll be surprised! Our gigs go down a storm, so we look forward to seeing everyone down at the Parnaby this weekend.”
