Local charity turn VIPs for the day to launch brand new store

9am on Saturday (27 July 2019) will see the long awaited opening of the brand new B&M Cottingley store, on Junction1 Retail Park.

The new colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community. They chose the team from Holbeck Elderly Aid, who will be taking centre stage to officially unveil the new B&M store.

The charity work with communities to strengthen existing relationships and resources, keep older people socially and physically active to empower them to make more informed choices and live longer.

In addition to opening the new store, the team will also receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers to go towards the charity.

The store manager, Asif Khan, said:

“The team at Holbeck Elderly Aid really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for local people in the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

He also commented: “Our new colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day, we can’t wait to get the doors open on Saturday and show customers their brand new B&M.”

The former Currys / PC World store has undergone an internal and external refurbishment programme and created 45 new jobs for local people.

The store will be the first brand new B&M to open in the city, ahead of openings in Kirkstall (3 August) and Rothwell (8 August) – all stores have created more than 100 jobs for local people.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food & drink, pet range, health & beauty and homewares.
