Councillors and MP

Councillors are responsible for services provided by Leeds City Council – social services, education, sports, parks, planning, refuse collection and a host of other things. If you have a problem with a council service you can ask your councillor to help you sort it out.

Leeds has 99 councillors – three in each of 33 wards across the city. Our part of South Leeds is covered by three wards – Beeston & Holbeck, Hunslet & Riverside and Middleton Park.

All nine councillors form the Inner South Community Committee, which meets about six times a year to discuss issues about our area. These meetings are open to the public and we will try to let you know when they’re coming up and tell you about their decisions.

From the folks at MySociety you can report, view, or discuss local problems like graffiti, fly tipping, broken paving slabs, or street lighting over at Fix My Street, send messages to your councillors over at Write To Them, and make Freedom Of Information requests here.

    1. Dear Mr Thomas
I have just by chance come across your message on the South Leeds Life page from last October. Did you also contact me direct and can I still help?
      best wishes

  2. I was driving through Holbeck last Saturday and was delighted to see the wildflower meadow growing where some terraced streets have been demolished. I also thought the hanging baskets looked good. Feel it shows that people care about the area.

    1. Hi Sandra, it’s unlikely your comment here will be seen by your Councillors. It would be much better to email or ring them directly using the links above. If you are not sure which ward you live in, tell me your street name and I will advise.

  6. As you drive around Leeds there are lovely roundabouts with flower beds and sculptures and then you get to Middleton outside the Asda store and you see what is supposed to represent a wild flower meadow,in my opinion it looks like a weed bed whatever time of year it is.but there again it’s Middleton south Leeds so who cares

  7. Can no one stop the idiots that are riding round say and night on quad bikes, motor bikes. No helmets just face coverings,no license,no insurance. They cause damage ,are quite threatening in their behaviour. Shoot on to paths and grass areas. Someone will get killed. Police are doing NOTHING to stop this it’s getting worse.
