Organisers of the inaugural Lantern Festival dressed the park in lights. Tea light lanterns and trees wrapped in fairy lights guided people along the paths to the Watsonian Pavilion where refreshments were served. The common consensus was that the park looked “magical”.

Children from many local primary schools brought the lanterns they had made in class and were given electric tea lights to illuminate them. Others had torches, camping lights or glow-sticks. There are more photos over on Facebook.

The event was presented by The Church in Leeds 11 with support from Community First, the Salvation Army Leeds City Council.
