Job opportunity: Community and Volunteer Developer, St Mary’s Beeston

Sponsored content

Could you help St Mary’s develop its space to be a place where people connect with each other? We’re looking for someone with passion and creativity who can find volunteers to help us run sessions where people can be inspired to write, draw, sing, explore our history, or to play games, knit and natter, or drink coffee. Or maybe simply to sit in the stillness of our lovely building and soak up its peace. You don’t have to be a Christian – just respectful of our Church tradition.

Could this be you?

Could you help more people discover St. Mary’s church mice?

The members of St. Mary’s Beeston have long known that we have a lovely jewel of a church – one of the few heritage buildings in Beeston. When anyone comes in they always tell us how lovely it is – and how peaceful.

As a Parish Church we know our church is there for everyone in our parish – whether they consider themselves to be a Christian or not. But at the moment it’s only open for services and occasionally at other times – like the National Day of Reflection last month. We have a vision that sees our church at the heart of our community – everyday and for everyone.

We’ve got a little grant from the National Lottery Awards for All to help us explore this vision, and we’re looking for someone to develop this with us. Could that be you? Or someone you know?

We are recruiting for a paid Community and Volunteer Developer for a few hours a week to help us make sure our buildings are places where people can connect with each other.

We’re looking for someone with passion and creativity who can find volunteers to run sessions where people can come together and be inspired. Maybe to write, to draw, to sing, or perhaps to explore our history – learning about our medieval anchorites and anchoresses? Maybe to play games, knit and natter, drink coffee, or maybe simply to sit in the stillness of our lovely building and soak up its peace? We’re looking for someone who can see the potential and make it happen.

You don’t even have to love mice – though we’re rather fond of ours. And when the children from our local schools visit they enjoy going on a mouse hunt!
