“In Bloom” groups benefit from pub cannabis raid

Holbeck In Bloom and Beeston In Bloom will be making good use of confiscated criminals’ gardening equipment following the discovery of a cannabis farm at the Britannia pub in Holbeck.

Police raided the pub on Thursday and discovered cannabis being grown in an upstairs room. They also found 22 sacks of compost, plant feed, bamboo canes, soil enhancer and buckets.

The cannabis was removed, but rather than destroy the other supplies the Police contacted Holbeck In Bloom to ask if they could make use of the haul. In the spirit of partnership, Holbeck offered a share to Beeston In Bloom and together they moved their windfall to the Council’s Parks department yard.

Linda Stanley, Secretary of Beeston In Bloom said:

“I think this shows the power of partnership working. We have worked with the Council and the Police for years. It’s great to see this material being diverted from criminal activity to going to make Holbeck and Beeston more beautiful places.”
