Have your say on White Rose Centre expansion plans

Expansion plans at the White Rose Centre include a cinema

Developers behind plans to expand the White Rose Shopping Centre in south Leeds are encouraging people to have their say on the proposals.

Owners Land Securities are looking to extend the White Rose by increasing the size of Primark and Debenhams, adding a multi-screen cinema and reconfiguring the parking on the site. They’re due to submit a formal planning application shortly.

The improvements would create hundreds of new jobs for the area but result in a small decrease in the parking

Siuth Leeds Life first reported on the initial plans here.

A special web page has been set up by Land Securities to allow local residents to have there say. You can find it here.

Meanwhile, civic watchdog organisation Leeds Civic Trust have voiced initial reservations over the expansion plans in their latest newsletter.

They say they prefer any significant retail schemes to be directed in the city centre but will look into the issue in more detail as part of any formal planning application.

  1. Maybe it’s me but I can’t find reference to the Civic Trust’s comments/their newsletter on their website…

The comments were included in their latest newsletter – which is distributed in print and in PDF format. I don’t think it exists on the Trust’s website.
