Half term activity roundup

Next week (14-19 February 2016) is half term for schools in South Leeds. Here is a roundup of activities on offer in the area.

 

The Hunslet Club

As usual, The Hunslet Club will be running an Activity Camp for children in Key Stage 1 and above from Monday to Friday. Activities for boys and girls include football, crafts, baking, movies and dance. Sessions run from 8:45am-3pm every day and cost £8 full day, £4 half day.

Hunslet Club Activity Camp

 

Friends of Middleton Park

There will be organised play sessions at the Middleton Park Visitor Centre on Tuesday 16 (willow fish making) and Wednesday 17 February (kids get crafty) from 1-3pm. The sessions are free, no need to book, just turn up.

 

Asha Neighbourhood Project

Three sessions at Asha next week. On Tuesday 16 it’s arts and crafts from 1-3pm at Building Blocks on Maud Avenue; on Wednesday 17 it’s games in Cross Flatts Park from 1-3pm, meet at Building Blocks; and on Thursday there’s a trip to Monster Kidz Play Centre 12-4pm. The cost is £10 for all three sessions and bookings are being taken now, call (0113) 270 4600 or call in to Asha, 43 Stratford Street, Beeston.

 

White Rose Cheer

Why not give cheerleading a try? White Rose Cheer will be running sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm at Lockwood Court in Beeston. Disability Sports

Leeds Disability Sports Camp is takes place between Monday 15 and Friday 19 February  from 10am-3pm, the camp will visit John Charles, Holt Park, Pudsey, Scott Hall and Fearnville leisure centres during the week. Suitable for ages 8-18 years old with any disability, plus non-disabled siblings and friends are very welcome. Places are available on individual days or for the whole week. Beeston Library

Super fun superheroes on Wednesday 17 February from 11am-1pm. Come along to this super family event, take part in a quiz, find out your superhero name, read all about your hero and get stuck into some superhero crafts. This is a Free event, just drop in. Part of Library Fest Leeds.

 

Thwaite Mills (Stourton)

Don’t get Blown Away at this family workshop on Wednesday 17 February 1-3pm. Design and build a balloon powered arcer from the selection of new and recycled materials supplied. Or get up close with nature on Thursday 18 February 1-3pm. Explore the unique island site of Thwaite Mills discovering the wide variety of wildlife that shares the site with us. Then use microscopes to study specimens in greater detail.

Leeds Discovery Centre (Hunslet)

Wednesday 17 February, 10am-12pm: Nature Detectives. Come and explore the Custom and Excise collection and try to ID some of the objects from the collection.

Thursday 18 February, 11am-12pm or 2-3pm. Step inside the state-of-the-art museum storage facility, home to over one million fascinating objects. From elephant skulls to a medieval logboat, mummy bandages and meteorites, join us for a hands-on exploration of natural science, human history and ingenuity.

Middleton Leisure Centre

Racket Sports taster sessions on Monday 15 and Wednesday 17 12-1pm for 5-12 year old. Football Fun on Monday and Wednesday 11am-12pm. Squash and Racketball on Tuesday 16 10-11am. Tennis Centre at John Charles

Aquatics Centre at John Charles
