The day was organised by a group of students from Leeds Beckett University working with The Hunslet Club. It was the culmination of their year long project to promote opportunities for girls and young women to play sport, especially football. The project has seen 80 young women engaged through a range of activities.

Between matches girls enjoyed taster sessions covering various footballing skills and drills.

Commenting on the day, organiser Julie Hogan said:

“We’ve really enjoyed today, it’s been a fun celebration. The girls have all had a good time and both schools really represented themselves really well.”

The Hunslet Club hosts a turn up and play ladies football session every Tuesday at 7:30pm and a fun football session for girls aged 5-11 on Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:30am.
