Get active in South Leeds parks this summer

Active Leeds has organised a host of events in our local parks for the summer holidays:

Xplorer is an educational fun family friendly navigation challenge. Explore the park, find the markers complete the challenfge have fun together. This is a free activity and there is no need to book, just turn up any week.

Middleton Park every Monday (except Bank Holiday 26 August) between 1-2:30pm meet near the Visitor Centre

Cross Flatts Park, Beeston every Tuesday 10:30am-12pm meet near the children’s play area

Holbeck Moor every Thursday 10:30am-12pm meet near the children’s play area

GoTri are bringing Triathlon skills to children in Holbeck and Middleton. This is a chance for 10-14 year olds to learn running and cycling skills with coaches from LS-TEN, Leeds Urban Bike Park and Active Leeds.

The sessions run each Tuesday morning, 10:30am-12pm on Holbeck Moor; every Thursday morning 10am-12pm at Leeds Urban Bike Park in Middleton. Please bring a water bottle and suitable clothing for running and cycling

All equipment is provided and the sessions are free thanks to funding from the Housing Advisory Panel and Inner South Community Committee.

There will also be a Duathlon event (running and cycling) and fun run in Cross Flatts Park on Wednesday 7 August

  • 6pm       Mini Fun run for all: 1 mile walk, jog or run – Free – just turn up and join in
  • 7pm       Junior Race: 10 – 14 years (Needs to be 10 by December 2019) – Free – book here
  • 7.30pm  Duathlon Event and Leeds Girls Can event – Free – book here

This event is being organised with support from South Leeds Lakers running club

 

Holbeck Moor is also the venue for pop up sports on Wednesdays 4-6pm. Under the banner ‘Give it a go’ these session are perfect for 8-13 year olds wanting to try out a range of sports activities. There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day for these free sessions.

 

There will be a Pop Up Cycling event at Dewsbury Road Community Hub in Beeston on Saturday 24 August from 10am–12noon offering traffic free cycling fun for all the family with skills areas for adults and children.

And don’t forget Let’s Ride Leeds on Saturday 1 September in Leeds City Centre, 11am-3pm. Fun cycling activities for all ages, music, street food, stunt shows and a chance to ride around a traffic free city centre for the day.
